Sweet Potato Bread versi ~Sakinah Omar~

I decided to make potato bread this morning for tea.I just love the texture and the taste and would like to share the recipe here.Fot the dough I used this recipe from My Resepi.org.Thanks so much for sharing.

Ingredients:
300gms high protein flour or bread flour
135ml  cold iced water
3/4 tsp salt
30 gms butter or margerine
1/2 egg beat a little
60gms potato (boiled and mashed then weighed)
3/4 tbs powdered milk
50gms castor sugar
2 tsp instant yeast
1tbs water roux(this one I added. Not in the actual recipe. You can see how to make water roux here)

Method for making the dough:
1.Combine ingredients for bread dough, except water and butter.
2.Pour water little by little and untill it is wellm mixed.
3.Add butter and continue kneading until the dough becomes soft and supple.
4.Form smooth round balls by pulling the dough around the center and pinching the seams together on the bottom of the roll.Let the dough to relax a few minutes.

If you're using a breadmaker:
1.Put all the ingredients in the breadmaker .
2.Select the settings for "dough" and press "on",
3.Wait until the dough is ready.
4.When it is ready.Punch the air out and follow step 4 of above method.

For the topping I used Mat Gebu's recipe.he has pictures too that you can follow on how to pipe the custard on the dough. You can make the custard topping while waiting for the dough to rise.Let it cool before putting it in a piping bag.You can buy all sorts of sizes for piping bags at almost any shop that sells bakery needs near you house.

Custard Topping;
1 tbs flour
1tbs custard powder
1tbs butter(optional)
4tbs castor sugar
1 cup fresh milk
1 egg size A
a pinch of salt

Method to make custard cream:
1.Combine milk, sugar,egg,salt and custard powder.
2.Stir with a wisk until all are blended together.
3.Cook over low heat while continuing to stir until thick.
4.Remove from the heat, add butter and vanilla essence.
5.Mix well and let it cool a bit.
6.Put in a piping bag.
Before going into the oven. After you have made them into small buns, leave to rise before piping the custard cream. Its up to you how much you want to put on it.If you want more, you can make spirals on top of it.

I forgot to glace it this time with egg so its not shiny.
 So soft....
And fluffy too....

Do try it out.Its so much fun making breads. But the best fun is when we see our loved ones enjoying them
